Story
In loving memory of Marlene Ford : The CJD support network
I have set up this page to raise funds for The CJD Support Network in memory of my mum, who sadly passed away on the 14th May 2024. Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) is a rapidly progressive, 100% fatal neurological disease that causes dementia. CJD is so rare it affects only 1 in a million people; my mum really was one in a million 🩷. It was a very heartbreaking time witnessing the rapid progression of this disease, mum was diagnosed just 5 weeks before she passed away, but many others don’t get a diagnosis until days before. There is no known cause for CJD which makes the pain of losing her even harder.
The CJD Support Network is an amazing charity set up to provide support for families like ours who have been affected by this cruel disease. The charity rely on funds given by donation - this can contribute to support, accessible information, annual events and counselling, as well as up to date information about the latest news and findings of CJD from the CJD Research Centre in Edinburgh.
Over time I will take part in events to raise money and awareness, the first being Tough mudder in July. As a family we would also like to accept donations via this page in lieu of flowers on the day of mums funeral. We would really appreciate any donation, big or small, towards this wonderful charity so that continuous support can be provided for families. Thank you for your support 💛
